Private local dictation

How to use CineVox

CineVox is a native desktop app, not a browser tool. Download the Windows beta, install it locally, run your own Whisper model, then dictate into any app where your cursor is active.

Get the beta build

The Windows beta is available as a zip package. Mac support is planned, but the DMG needs a macOS build, signing, and notarization pass before public release.

The beta package does not bundle the Whisper model. Place your local faster-whisper model into the model folder before first launch.

Install it locally

1

Unzip or install the CineVox build

Keep the app on your machine. CineVox is designed to run locally without accounts, telemetry, or cloud transcription.

2

Add the local Whisper model

Place the model folder where the release notes specify. The intended default is a local faster-whisper large-v3 model for best accuracy.

3

Launch CineVox

Start the app and check the tray icon or settings window. Diagnostics should confirm the model, device, microphone, and privacy mode.
