Paste your Scene
Paste your script, story beats, or even a rough prose description. Add Director's Notes to steer the global tone and camera approach.
DVP Tools / Pre-Production
Automate your pre-production. Paste your script and receive a structured shot list with complexity badges, camera movement hints, and platform-optimized AI prompts for every beat.
Quick start
Script to Shots uses Anthropic's Claude to parse your prose and identify the most cinematic way to cover each story beat with AI generation in mind.
Paste your script, story beats, or even a rough prose description. Add Director's Notes to steer the global tone and camera approach.
Select your Shot Density (Standard to Detailed) and target platforms. Each checked platform gets a unique, optimized prompt per shot.
Review the generated cards. Analyze the Complexity Badges to identify difficult shots, then export the full list as a production-ready CSV.
Methodology
We analyze scripts through the lens of AI generation capabilities, flagging which shots are "easy wins" and which require advanced prompting skill.
Every shot is categorized to ensure your project has the visual variety needed for a professional final cut.
Red badges flag shots with complex physics, crowds, or precise interaction. These require more "waste" budget in the AI Cost Calculator and more iterative attempts.
An Anthropic API key is required. The tool runs locally in your browser, using Claude 3.5 Sonnet to perform the narrative-to-technical translation.
Controls
Define the global aesthetic (e.g., "Gritty Noir"). This is woven into every prompt block, ensuring visual continuity across the entire shot list.
Add specific shooting preferences like "handheld" or "low angle". These global instructions shape how Claude covers the story beats.
Toggle Minimal for key beats only, or Detailed for full coverage of every micro-action in the scene.
Check the engines you use. Script to Shots crafts unique versions for Kling, Runway, Luma, and others simultaneously.
Download your shot list as a spreadsheet. Perfect for importing into Notion, Excel, or Airtable for production tracking.
Directly save your breakdown to your project bible. This centralizes your pre-production docs in one persistent browser location.
Professional Workflow
Break long scripts into individual scenes before pasting. This keeps the shot breakdown focused and prevents prompt dilution.
Look at your "Red" shots. Prioritize these in your generation schedule, as they will likely take 5-10x more attempts than "Green" shots.
If a shot description isn't quite right, hit Regenerate. You can also edit the prompt block directly before copying it to your clipboard.
Share the CSV export with your editor or lighting lead. It serves as a common technical language between narrative and technical departments.
