How To Use Campaign Engine

Campaign Engine turns a content idea into a finished, platform-safe pack of slides, captions, and exports. It looks like a lot of steps — but you only need four of them. The rest (a written brief, AI drafting, DVP Vault) are optional power-ups you can ignore until you want them.

The 60-second version

To make your first pack, follow the four tabs from left to right:

1 Start Choose the closest destination and apply a ready-made starter pack.
2 Build Optionally add a brief, references, Vault material, or an AI draft.
3 Edit Choose a format and template, then change each slide's copy and image.
4 Review & Export Resolve blockers, then download a clean slide, format, or full pack.

That's the whole core loop. Brief, References, AI, Vault, and creative-tool outputs are optional. Readiness warnings explain what may improve the pack; only blocking items prevent export.

Stage 1

Start

Pick the destination closest to your campaign: social, story, YouTube, LinkedIn, web, deck, or print. Applying a starter pack gives you editable slides and carries its format into the rest of the workflow.

Stage 2

Build

Brief is optional context — only objective and audience show by default; open Add more detail for offer, channel, tone, and required elements. References are optional sources, required phrases, and guardrails. The AI Brain controls live in Build: Generate My Pack makes an editable draft in one click — a free local draft by default, or your own saved AI key automatically; the bring-your-own-key and ChatGPT-handoff lanes stay collapsed beneath it. Vault is optional and imports approved campaign memory. Skip these panels when the starter pack already gives you what you need.

Stage 3

Edit

Set the output format and safe area, choose a template, and work slide by slide. Change titles, supporting copy, CTA, background image (upload a file, paste a URL, or generate one with AI — see below), text position, and platform preview. Duplicate, reorder, delete, undo, or redo while the live preview stays in sync.

Stage 4

Review & Export

Readiness separates blockers from optional warnings. Fix empty or overlong titles, missing slides or formats, required phrases, and unsafe baked text before export. Normal exports stay clean even when preview guides are visible; Export Safe Guide creates a separate reference image.

Download the current slide, current format, or full multi-format pack. Copy packs and creative-tool outputs are optional companion exports; those include Runway JSON and Remotion JSON scene plans. Save Pack To Vault is optional.

When you want AI

AI is entirely optional. In Build, one button — Generate My Pack — makes an editable draft: it uses your own AI key automatically if you've saved one, otherwise it builds a free local draft. Two collapsed lanes below it hold the power options:

Manual HandoffNo DVP chargeBuilds a clean prompt to paste into ChatGPT, Gemini, Midjourney, or Runway. Paste the JSON it returns into the LLM JSON box and click Import AI Draft.
Direct AI (BYOK)Your provider bills youUses your own API key (kept in your browser) to generate and import structured results automatically.

AI backgrounds optional In Edit, each slide can generate its own background image from the slide's prompt and your visual direction, using your Gemini key. Pick Imagen 3 for photoreal backgrounds or Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, then Generate This Slide or Generate All. To keep a logo, product, or style on-brand, drop a reference image and Gemini 2.5 Flash Image will composite it into the background (Imagen ignores references). Generated images save with your project and bake into exports.

Cost in plain terms: Local Draft and Handoff never call a paid API from DVP. Direct AI uses your own key — your provider (OpenAI, or Google for Gemini text and image generation) may charge your account for model usage. The key stays in your browser; nothing is sent to DVP.

DVP Vault optional

If you use DVP Vault, you can feed approved material straight in: in Vault, select records and click Copy For Campaign Engine, then paste the text into the References panel in Build and click Import Vault Packet. When you're done, Save Pack To Vault sends the finished pack back as campaign memory. If you don't use Vault, ignore this entirely — it changes nothing about the core loop.

Shortcuts & autosave

Your project autosaves to this browser a moment after every change — the status chip in the header shows Saving… then Saved, and your work is restored automatically the next time you open the tool. Nothing leaves your machine.

On Windows and Linux, use Ctrl instead of ⌘. The same shortcut sheet is available inside the tool from the Shortcuts button in the header.

If you get stuck

The page looks unstyled or buttons do nothing.The stylesheet and scripts live in the styles/ and src/ folders next to this page. Keep those folders together with index.html, or the app can't load.
I closed the tab — is my work gone?No. The app autosaves to this browser and restores on reopen. Use Reset only when you want to start over.
Where do I actually begin?The welcome card and the 60-second version both point to the Start tab. Skip the Brief unless you're using AI.
My exported image is missing the logo or looks cut off.Give the preview a second to load images before exporting, and use Review & Export to confirm text sits inside the safe area for your format.
Can the tool generate background images?Yes. In Edit, add your Gemini key, then use Generate This Slide or Generate All with Imagen 3 or Gemini 2.5 Flash Image. Drop a reference image to composite a logo or product into the result with Flash Image.
Do I have to pay for AI?No. Local Draft and Handoff are free. Only Direct AI (with your own key) can be billed — by your provider, not by DVP.
